The Olympic Southern Flyers Ice Racing Club (OSF) is the home of short-track speed skating in Victoria. Established in 1949, OSF has been the home of National and International ice racers, nurturing National Champions, World Competitors and Olympians.

A family-friendly club, we welcome skaters of all abilities and ages.

Short Track Speed Skating is a fast-paced, strategic sport where four to six skaters compete in a race, flying around the rink to be the first across the finish line.

The Olympic Southern Flyers Ice Racing Club (OSF) is the home of Speed Skating in Victoria. We are a non-profit, volunteer sporting organisation with an elected committee.

Formed in 1949, the OSF Club and has a long, proud history in both Short and Long Track Speed Skating (Ice Racing) with many of our skaters reaching the elite sporting level and representing Australia in the Olympics and World Championship events.

What We Do

We offer recreational Speed Skating and competitive racing opportunities at Club, State, National and International events.

OSF is the longest running Speed Skating club in Victoria and our team of dedicated, qualified coaches led by head coach Gordon Church ensures that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy skating and reach their full skating potential.

We pride ourselves on being welcoming and inclusive to everyone who wants to try Speed Skating regardless of age or skating ability and provide a learning environment that is fun, safe and supportive.

You can start Speed Skating at any age, we have members from children as young as five years through to our older experienced senior and veteran skaters.

History

Formed in 1949, the OSF Club and has a long, proud history in both Short and Long Track Speed Skating (Ice Racing) with many of our skaters reaching the elite sporting level and representing Australia in the Olympics and World Championship events.

Steven Bradbury made Ice Racing famous in his dramatic win at Salt Lake City in 2002 giving Australia its first Winter Olympic Gold Medal.

Get Involved

Come and Try Speed Skating with OSF

If you like a bit of high-speed fun this sport could be for you.

Come and try the exciting sport of Speed Skating with OSF. You can attend up to 3 trial sessions before joining the club.

We have several training sessions during the week that we would love to see you at!

Club Training

Our skating year starts in February and ends in early December. The OSF Club runs one session per week, including during the mid-year school term holidays.

After one year out, due to Covid, we are back at the O’Brien Icehouse.

What you need to bring:

  • Bike helmet
  • Gloves
  • Comfortable long clothing
  • Your own skates (if you have these, if not skates can be borrowed)
  • Sport wear, including runners for dry land
Sessions

We run sessions on Thursday afternoons from 6:15pm to 7:45pm.
